Rocky Mountain Rails, Duet
$15.00
All aboard for some adventure on Rocky Mountain Rails! This super-fun late elementary duet was commissioned by the Fort Worth MTA for use at the TMTA Convention (2025). In the introduction, you’ll hear the train pulling out of the station in the Secondo while Primo has speaking parts to invite everyone to hop on board. The A section features the melody in Primo over a boogie-style bass line in Secondo, then the B section flips the spotlight and gives the melody to Secondo before returning to the A section to wrap it up. Listen for more speaking parts at the end—and a big, splashy glissando to finish!
Key: C (plenty of finger numbers to help with minimal hand-position movement)
Time Signature: 4/4 (BPM = 210–240)
Teaching Focus: Ensemble coordination, steady beat at a fast tempo, melody handoffs between Primo/Secondo, boogie bass patterns, performance “theater” with speaking parts, glissando finish
Level: Late Elementary – Early Intermediate
Length: 20 pages total (8 pages duet + 11 pages conductor’s score + cover art) | Performance time: 1:50
